We analyzed 50,000 outbound sequences across industries to identify what actually drives replies in 2026.

The Optimal Sequence Length

The data is clear: 3-4 touch sequences outperform longer ones. After the fourth email, response rates drop below 0.5% and unsubscribe rates spike. Quality over quantity wins every time.

Timing and Spacing

The ideal gap between emails is 3-5 business days. Sending follow-ups too quickly feels aggressive; waiting too long loses momentum. Tuesday through Thursday mornings consistently show the highest open and reply rates.

The Personalization Spectrum

Fully templated emails convert at 1.2%. Light personalization (company name, industry) bumps that to 2.8%. Deep personalization (specific pain points, recent news, mutual connections) achieves 5.4% reply rates.
